Who owns the catch
Currently no serious commercial fishing fleets currently operate in Vanuatu
waters, and Kahuna Charters sincerely hopes it remains that way. Locals and
restaurants rely on sport and game fish operators for 90 per cent of their fish
requirements. Kahuna Charters practices tag and release on all general marlin
fishing charters, but we do offer guests the right to kill a billfish.
Other species encountered may be killed for commercial purposes and will remain
the property of the boats. Any fish that you wish for your own consumption will
be expertly cleaned and filleted, packed and stored on ice for you to take back
to your apartment or resort, or to any of the great restaurants in Port Vila
that are happy to prepare your catch for that evening's meal.
